University 100 General Sections
Students enrolled in the General Sections of University 100 will meet once a week in small classes of 20-25 students. Classes are taught by both a Faculty member and an upperclass Peer Advisor, both of whom have been through an extensive selection process and who are dedicated to helping freshmen succeed. The course is highly interactive, and many speakers from offices around campus are invited to class to share their expertise with the students.
The course counts as a one-credit elective, and is graded A, B, C, D, F. Students will be graded on their participation in class, a weekly e-mail journal, outside events that are designed to encourage students to get involved, homework assignments, and a final assignment that synthesizes what they have learned. The workload is not heavy; however, students need to fulfill all the requirements in order to do well in the class. The assignments are designed to help students be successful not only in University 100, but also in all aspects of their college career, both academic and personal.
The text called Transitions to Mason is designed to be used as a resource guide for students through their first year and beyond.
