With an overwhelming Arab
population of more than 300 students, George Mason's Arab Student
Association has been a prominent leader on campus in educating the
mainstream student body about the Arab culture, language, and contemporary
issues. ASA's mission is clear and simple -- to truly educate and
integrate the Arab American culture into American mainstream through
academic and cultural events. So far, ASA is well renowned on campus
as a key leader in educating the student body regarding vital issues
that pertain to the Middle East, such as the Right of Return and the
war to end the sanctions in Iraq. We have also pressed on the issues
that are important to Arab Americans, such as communicating with the
local and national governments, discussing Arab American women rights,
student activism, fundraising, and much more.
