The FMA, providing many events and services to their members and Mason students, needs the funds to do so. Thus, we hold many fundraising events throughout each semester, and expect each FMA member to volunteer and help with these events especially.

The FMA holds many trips throughout the school year. Whether they are local or national trips, they are designed to provide the experience and knowledge each student would find useful in their future professional life. The GMU Chapter usually has scheduled trips throughout the school year, Spring and Fall semesters, to the places like, NYSE, Bear Sterns, Merrill Lynch, and the Federal Reserve.

NYC TRIP
April 3-5th 2009
FMA is planning a trip to NYC on April 3rd to the 5th. We will be visiting Financial institutions such as NYSE and the Finance Museum. Contact any of our officers for further details and approaching deadlines. There are limited spots available.

The GMU FMA will holds an Investment Challenge almost every semester. This is the second time around FMA has hosted an investment challenge and hopes it will prove effective, fun, and educational.

The Challenge is going to be based on Portfolio Management theories and concepts. Professor Jim Hsieh has provided a great experience of this kind in his course, Principles of Investment, and FMA was greatly honored to host this event. The Challenge will last about two months and the winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place holders), at day's close will receive cash prizes. Currently we are working towards acquiring sponsorships, so specific award amounts are not yet determined.

The FMA Officers are committed to bringing back all the great events and services it once provided. This semester we plan on hosting many speaker events, trips, many fundraising events, social events, and introducing our newly formed tutoring services. Each event and activity aims to provide students with experience and knowledge. From our invited Speakers of both national and international firms, our Members have opportunities to acquire knowledge, who learn of personal experiences and knowledge of the speaker’s specific industry and careers. Our Fundraising events provide members with the opportunity to gain voluble leadership skills and management skills and experience. Our GMU Chapter has introduced the tutoring services, which can provide many students with volunteer experience, also strengthening their base in the finance curriculum. Our members will also gain exclusive experience from many trips FMA schedules, such as the NYSE and the Federal Reserve.

If you would like to participate in any of the events or become a tutor, please complete the form on our Contact page, and we will get back to you ASAP. We greatly appreciate all the help our Members and fellow Mason students provide.

The FMA GMU Chapter is re-introducing Financial Tutoring service to all Mason students. Our Chapter's tutoring sessions' primary goal is to put an end to all the frustration and stress that comes with Finance 301. Our Tutors are, not necessarily finance major, students who understand Finance and most importantly know how students really learn the material covered in 301. Our Tutors are passionate about explaining the concepts and computational problems in ways that are more student friendly.

Our secondary objective is to eliminate the great rumor that, "passing FNAN 301, can only be done by actually finance majors!" We will try our best to get students, not only passing Finance classes, but Ace them

We are currently providing sessions only for FNAN 301, but are looking for tutors who can provide help in other Finance classes. If you would like to be a tutor, please do not hesitate to email us.

NOTE: We do not re-teach any lectures or chapters, we only provide assistance and clarity to students' specific problematic areas.
