Application Process

Any enrolled George Mason University graduate student attending a professional conference is eligible to apply.

Graduate Student Travel Fund Guidelines:

  • Joint applications will not be accepted.
  • Each graduate student will only be awarded one travel fund award per academic year (July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010).
  • Any enrolled GMU graduate student attending a professional conference is eligible to apply. The hierarchy of consideration for funding is as follows:
    1. Paper presentation
    2. Poster presentation
    3. Workshop facilitator
    4. Panel participant
    5. Professional development
    6. On-site research


In order to be considered for funding all application packets must include the following items: If you are missing any of the following items your application will not be considered for an award.

NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE!!

  • PROOF of Conference Registration
  • PROOFof Program Acceptance (if presenting a paper or poster only)
All Graduate Student Travel Fund Application Packets must be submitted by 5:00pm on the Travel Deadline prior to travel. (e.g. Conference date September 29th through October 2nd, must apply by the August 21st deadline)

(The GSTF reserves the right to shift applications to a later deadline if deemed necessary and appropriate.)

After the specific deadline has passed and the applications have been evaluated you will receive an e-mail notification, within two weeks after the deadline stating your award status. Applications are not reviewed in between deadlines.

GSTF does not resubmit email notifications in the event that a student's inbox is full or over quota.
