Ministers
Everyone in our community is a minister. We believe strongly that we are ALL ministers -- what Martin Luther called the "priesthood of all believers". We all have gifts to bring to the table, and we are all called to serve as part of the body of Christ. It doesn't matter if you are a student, janitor, pastor, doctor, artist, lawyer, social worker, unemployed, etc. What matters is that you are open to God's calling and that you follow where God leads you. This is the Lutheran understanding of vocation. In all the places we go, we are called to minister to those around us -- to love, support, and be there for others. The staff below aren't more important than anyone else, but rather are the contact people who are working to build and sustain our rag tag community. Feel free to contact them with any questions or ideas you have!Staff
Ben Buss
Campus Minister / Director of Lutheran Campus Ministry at GMU
My name is Ben and I'm a sinner. I live a life full of high points and low points. I try to live in tune with God, but I often find myself marching to my own beat. Despite this, I live in the joy that I am claimed by God and welcomed home by a wonderful wife who accepts me in all of my oddity.
I love meeting people (Faceboook me), hanging out, and having fun. My hobbies and interests are really too numerous to name here, but I thrive on music, board games, sports, books, discussions, food, and adventures. Life is a journey!
I've been involved with Lutheran Campus Ministry for over ten years in a variety of roles. I've been serving on campus at GMU since August of 2007. My calling here includes helping to prayerfully discern with you what God is doing in our collective and individual lives, and enabling us to work together to dig deeply into our own hearts to gracefully live out the vision we discover.
I dream of a radically inclusive community where we plumb the depths of our experiences to share the grace and love of God with the campus community. As a community, we can work to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and love the unloved.

Hi there! My name is Katie Kane, and I’m a senior majoring in Music and English (Medieval and Renaissance Literature). I love making music and meeting people and reading lots and lots of books! I’ve been involved with Lutheran Campus Ministry here at GMU in various capacities for three years, and I’m really looking forward to the next couple of years! LCM is a great opportunity to engage in an active community of service, worship, and fun. I love it for its openness to all people, its sense of community, and the fact that it helps me keep my focus on God! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or just to say hi! Look me up on Facebook!
Rachael Dickson
Hi y'all, my name is Rachael Dickson and I am a senior History major, with minors in electronic journalism and music. I am a reporter, so I write stories, film video, and get to meet exciting people from all around Mason and beyond.
In all the things I get caught up working on at Mason, it's easy for me to lose sight of what matters sometimes. That's why I love Lutheran Campus Ministries so much - it's a group that is open to everyone, works to assist those in need, and helps me refocus on God and his will for my life.
Feel free to contact me via Facebook or by AIM (bobsmyharp). I would love to talk to you about Lutheran Campus Ministry and how you can be part of it.
