Qualifications: bachelor’s degree required, knowledge in InDesign,
StatCrew, Potoshop, Dreamweaver, and Microsoft Office.
The intern will assist the Sports Information Director in all facets
including publications, weekly reports, press releases, updating web pages and
supervision of student assistants. Assistant
coaching duties for the spring will include, team practice, travel, recruiting
and scouting. Salary will be $18,000 plus health benefits and $3,000 for
professional development.
This position includes opportunity for course work at Sweet Briar College.

Provides support and assistance relative to media relations, publications, events, internal communications, public information, publicity and promotional activities on behalf of the Sports Information Department in athletics.
Responsible for production of media guides, programs and news releases, and maintenance of files and statistics related to the respective sports.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Contributes written material to the official athletics Web site and to hokiesports -the newspaper relative to sports and events. Public address experience helpful. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree required, with a major in communications, sports management or a related field preferred (or fulfilling work requirements to obtain degree); computer skills using various software packages required; experience working with collegiate sports coaching staffs preferred; news-style/feature writing and experience working in a collegiate Sports Information Department preferred; experience with Stat Crew Systems and PageMaker software helpful; knowledge of volleyball (ability to score volleyball and to “call” a game for the computer) required; knowledge of lacrosse helpful.
General Information
The internship term generally begins in July and ends at
the end of May.
The job pays $1,000 per month for the 10-month term of the internship.
