
Ricca earned the Player of the Year award after garnering First Team All-ODAC and First Team All-South Region honors. He had the finest season-ever by a Hampden-Sydney quarterback during the 2003 campaign completing 61.3 percent (206-for-336) of his passes for 3,032 yards and 29 touchdowns. He was intercepted just 10 times in leading the Tigers to a 9-1 overall record and No. 15 ranking in the Division III polls. Ricca narrowly edged out teammate Conrad Singh for the player of the year award. Clark was tabbed as the Coach of the Year for the fourth straight year. To date, he has guided the Eagles to a 12-1 overall record and their third straight ODAC title. Clark leads Bridgewater into the NCAA Division III Semifinals on Saturday at Mount Union College. Repeat selections to the first team included Hampden-Sydney’s Singh, Christopher Newport junior offensive lineman Aaron Bennett, Washington and Lee senior offensive lineman Scott Kucinski, Bridgewater senior linebacker Jermaine Taylor and Ferrum junior defensive back Darren Venable. Bridgewater led all schools with eight selections to the all-state team, followed by Hampden-Sydney with seven, Christopher Newport with six and Ferrum with four. The Virginia College Division members for football include The Apprentice School, Averett University, Bridgewater College, Christopher Newport University, Emory & Henry College, Ferrum College, Hampden-Sydney College, Randolph-Macon College, Shenandoah University, Virginia State University, Virginia Union University, The University of Virginia-Wise and Washington and Lee University. |
