EMU’s Lind, VWC's Green & Bowers Highlight All-State Women's College Soccer Team
 

FERRUM, Va. – Eastern Mennonite University forward Ellie Lind and Virginia Wesleyan College defender Julie Green were named the 2003 College Division Women’s Soccer Co-Players of the Year, as voted upon by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Virginia Wesleyan Head Coach Jeff Bowers was honored as Coach of the Year.

Lind led the Royals with 56 points on 25 goals and six assists this season. She earned first team All-Conference honors in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and led the ODAC in goals and points scored.

Green was the ODAC Player of the Year and was a repeat All-Conference first team selection. She had three goals and three assists for nine points, helping the Marlins reach the NCAA Elite 8 this season. She is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Bowers led Virginia Wesleyan to a 20-2-2 record and was the ODAC Coach of the Year. His team won the NCAA South Region and advanced to the Elite 8.

Joining Lind and Green on the All-State first team were Meghan Hayde, Fontaine Marcoux, Kerry Giblin and Kelley Zagol of Washington & Lee University, Jill Hoffmeister and Emily Ocheltree of Roanoke College, Katie Barg of Virginia Wesleyan, Erin Johnson of Lynchburg College, Ashleigh Dota of Christopher Newport University and Rachel Vaccaro of Mary Washington College.
