George Mason University

Community Connection

Mason is a university dedicated to engaging the world  — whether it's a remote village on the other side of the globe or right here in our own back yard. Mason Nation is about bringing people together to enrich everyone's lives.

Welcome to Mason Nation

Our campuses aren’t just for students. We consider ourselves part of the community, and we like it when our neighbors come to call. Visitor parking is available, and our campuses are accessible by public transportation. As a top-tier research university, center of excellence in business, economics, and international relations, and focal point for the arts, exciting things happen here every day.

Mason welcomes visitors from throughout the region and across the globe on a daily basis. We pride ourselves on our heritage and mandate as a public university. We encourage participation in many on-campus activities.

On any given week on one of our campuses, you'll find engaging intellectual chats, networking events, career resource activities, healthy recreation, children’s workshops and more.

For the latest news and updates, including closings for holidays and inclement weather, be sure to follow our calendar or sign up for Mason Alerts for emergency information.

Show Your Patriot Pride

If you want to wear your loyalty on your sleeve, and everywhere else, the Fairfax Campus bookstore offers a wide selection of Mason-branded apparel and accessories — T-shirts and tanks, sweatshirts, pants and outerwear.

Pennants, pins, decals and banners also proclaim your school spirit. You can shop online and on campus.

Take a (Gentle) Hike

The Yellow Birch Trail, the Fairfax Campus’ first official walking trail, is 1.6 miles long and parallels Patriot Circle, winding its way through campus before finishing at the Wellness Circle, where it begins.

Distance markers are placed along the trail every 0.2 mile, so walkers can track their progress.

Rock Out with the Green Machine

The Green Machine wants you to lend an ear. Come hear one of our performances, led by the one and only Doc Nix.
