More Than 150 Employers to Recruit at Job and Internship Fair

February 15, 2012

For the past 24 years, University Career Services has hosted job and internship fairs to help students gain experience through internship opportunities and make the contacts they need to launch their career. This spring’s highly anticipated Job and Internship Fair will be on Wednesday, Feb. 22, and Thursday, Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Johnson Center’s Dewberry Hall.

The fair will feature more than 150 recruiters, including the U.S. Department of State, National Institutes of Health, Lockheed Martin, Prudential and Oracle.

“At our very core, we are about education.  We teach Mason students how — how to identify their strengths, how to market their skills and how to develop a search strategy for the 21st century,” says Christine Cruzvergara, interim senior associate director of career services. “We want our students equipped to manage their own career development while they’re here at Mason and beyond.”

To make a memorable first impression, students are encouraged to prepare before the fair:

  1. Research eight to 10 employers.
  2. Craft a personal pitch.
  3. Prepare and print 10 copies of their resume. Resumes can be created using Resume Builder or can be critiqued by employers or career counselors.
  4. Dress professionally.
  5. Attend preparation events for the fair.

Students do not need to be currently looking for a job to attend the fair.
