Cynthia Lum Named Fall Outstanding Supervisor

The Mason Staff Senate has announced that Cynthia Lum, associate professor and deputy director of the Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society, will receive the  Fall 2012 Outstanding Supervisor Award (OSA).

Lum’s nominator, Naida Kuruvilla, said, “She makes each and every person here feel appreciated and trusted, thereby enabling everyone to work harder and over-achieve. She also pays attention to the families of everyone, organizes events and holiday parties for us and our families. Cynthia makes it a pleasure to come into work every day.”

The Staff Senate Awards and Events Committee had its work cut out as it considered the outstanding supervisor nominations. Lum was one of 14 supervisors representing the breadth of campus departments across the three campuses nominated for the award. Other noteworthy supervisors nominated were:

Lum, with the Spring 2012 OSA Winner, Pamela Allen of the Office of Student Involvement, will be recognized at this year’s Outstanding Achievement Awards on Oct. 30. All are encouraged to attend and congratulate those who make Mason a great place to work.
