Former Vice President Joe Biden and Mason team up to raise awareness of campus sexual assault
April 20, 2017
George Mason University is excited to announce that former Vice President Joe Biden will join students, faculty and staff next week to help end sexual violence on college campuses.
The It’s On Us event is part of Mason’s commitment to creating an environment where every member of our community feels safe and can thrive. The 10:30 a.m. event will be on April 26 in The Hub Ballroom. Doors open at 9:45am.
We are very fortunate to have former Vice President Biden support Mason and this important campaign against sexual violence. Biden has been at the forefront of the movement. He was the initiator of the landmark Violence Against Women Act in 1994 and has been a vocal supporter of the It’s On Us campaign, which was launched in 2014.
Mason has made eradicating sexual assault a top priority. It is the only university in Virginia to offer a 24-hour crisis hotline, which is managed by the Student Support and Advocacy Center. It also advances the critical notion that everyone at the university must play a part in ending sexual violence. That includes taking the Mason pledge to end sexual violence and understanding the importance of bystander intervention.
We hope you can join us for this important event during Mason’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month to talk about how we can end sexual assault. If you wish to attend, please RSVP here. Please note an RSVP does not guarantee a seat. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis, so plan to come early.
Thanks for signing up. We can’t wait to see you at the event.
