Move-in day at Mason was a real moving experience
August 23, 2018
Classes at George Mason University begin on Aug. 27 this year, but the real start to the academic year was Thursday, Aug. 23—move-in day for freshmen.
It had its challenges, with traffic jams on the roads and in the residence halls, as students transported the necessities to create the comforts of home while also meeting their roommates. But the day was also full of excitement, and Mason President Ángel Cabrera was on hand to welcome part of Mason’s largest-ever incoming freshman class.
The class of 2022, which is expected to total 3,600, includes students from 44 states and 34 countries. Its top identified majors are computer science; biology; criminology, law and society; nursing; and government and international politics.
Mason photographer Lathan Goumas was there to capture the action.
