Deadline Extended: Call for Leadership Legacy Program Applications

The Leadership Legacy Program, sponsored by MasonLeads and Human Resources and Payroll, is designed for Mason full-time faculty and staff who are committed to furthering their leadership development.

The program curriculum provides opportunities for experienced faculty and staff to advance their conceptual and experiential understanding of leadership in the context of university settings.

Applications and nominations for the 2020–21 cohort of the Leadership Legacy Program are now due Monday, March 16.

Nominations for Jack Wood Award for Town/Gown Relations

In honor of former Mayor Jack Wood, the driving force for town/gown relations between Mason and the local community, the Office of Government and Community Relations presents the Jack Wood Award for Town/Gown Relations.

This award program recognizes faculty, staff, students, businesses/not-for-profits, community members, and elected officials/staff who demonstrate leadership in fostering mutually beneficial relationships between the university and community.

To nominate yourself or someone else, submit the online form by March 20.

Award recipients will be notified by April 8, with an award ceremony to be held May 6 in conjunction with the Board of Visitors meeting.

Statewide Tornado Drill: March 17

The Annual Statewide Tornado Drill will occur on Tuesday, March 17, at 9:45 a.m.

Participation is optional, but strongly encouraged. This regional emergency drill provides a good opportunity to review response procedures if a tornado warning is issued for one or more Mason campuses.

To prepare for the drill, review Mason’s guidance on severe weather and tornadoes.

This drill will be announced via Mason Alert email and text message and will conclude at 10 a.m.

Transit Driver Appreciation Day: March 18

Join Mason Shuttles in celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day on Wednesday, March 18! It’s a wonderful time to celebrate our dedicated shuttle drivers.

Enjoying a healthy meal begins long before you sit down to eat. Your stage of life, culture, traditions, preferences, and access to food all affect the choices you make.

The Build A Better Meal program will provide guiding principles to help you plan, shop, and prepare meals that fuel your body with the nutrients necessary to be your best. We will discuss updated food labels, portions, how to outsmart the grocery store, and more to help you build a better meal, one choice at a time.

Learn to Ride with FABB

Do you want to learn how to ride a bike? The Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling (FABB), in partnership with Parking and Transportation, is offering a Learn to Ride class on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon for just $15.

Summer Camp Registration at Mason Community Arts Academy

Join us this summer for artistry and skill-building camps and workshops at George Mason University. We are offering more than 80 acting, music, film & video, and visual arts programs for kids and teens. Teacher training workshops in Orff and Kodàly are available for credit and non-credit and aftercare available for most programs on campus.

All programs are taught by Mason and Academy faculty, area experts, or industry professionals. Multiple program and date options are available, including a residential option for the Summer Music Intensives and teacher training programs.
