Vaccination Policy

To ensure the safety of our community, Mason will require vaccines for students, with some exceptions, for fall semester. We're expecting faculty and staff to be vaccinated.

The university will hold vaccination clinics  through the fall semester. Schedule an appointment to get your shot


All students must be fully vaccinated by August 1, 2021, unless they qualify for an exemption or only take online courses and don't come to campus.

Depending on the type of vaccine you receive, you may have to get your first dose no later than July 4. Upload your vaccine documentation to the Health Services Patient Portal by August 1, 2021. 

If you're an international student with limited access to COVID vaccines, contact Mason to request a deadline extension. Students with approved extensions must be vaccinated once they arrive in the United States. 

Visit the Student Health Services website for information on how to upload your COVID vaccine documentation (all students), or submit your Mason Immunization Record Form (newly admitted students).

  • How to apply for medical and religious exemptions.  
  • How and where to upload your paperwork.  
  • What to do if you can’t find your COVID-19 card or vaccination documentation.  


Faculty and Staff 

All Mason employees are expected to be fully vaccinated by the time fall semester begins. 

Inform the university of your vaccination status through the Mason COVID Health Check.  

Upload your vaccine documentation into the Health Services Patient Portal by August 1, 2021. 

We anticipate full FDA approval (beyond the current emergency use authorization) of at least one COVID vaccine over the summer. At that time, we anticipate requiring that all employees receive the vaccine.
