George Mason University was recognized as a top-50 institution in the just-released 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings.

Mason ranked No. 47 among 351 colleges and universities from around the world that are 50 years old or younger. Mason moved up four positions from 2018, and only two U.S. universities placed ahead of Mason in the survey.

THE, a London-based education data provider, examined 13 performance indicators to assess research-intensive universities in five areas: teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income, productivity and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and international research collaborations) and industry income (knowledge transfer and the university’s ability to help industry with innovations).

In addition to being one of the Top 50 young universities, Mason was 65th out of 187 law programs evaluated. The university’s overall ranking was in the 301-350 group.
