Maintaining space between you and people outside your household is one of the best ways to avoid exposure to and to slow the spread of COVID-19.
People who are asymptomatic can spread the virus before they know they’re sick.
With some exceptions, physical distancing guidelines at Mason require that members of the community:
- Maintain 6 feet separation (approximately two arm lengths) from other people when possible.
- Avoid large groups.
- Configure workspaces to allow for physical separation of at least 6 feet between desks, workstations, computer terminals, individual study areas, etc.
- Consider moving or removing equipment, furniture, and workstations to allow for physical separation.
- Reconfigure shared offices to allow physical distancing between occupants.
The CDC’s Social Distancing site features additional information on physical distancing.

Students who take in-person classes will be spaced apart and must wear masks when in buildings.
