Applying for a scholarship at Mason could not be easier! Scholarships are considered FREE money that will help you pay for college expenses.

Mason Scholarships

Welcome to the online Mason Scholarship Application. This application process is open to all continuing undergraduates, admitted transfers, and graduate students, to review and apply for scholarship opportunities offered through the Office of Student Financial Aid and various departments. Scholarship awards are based on your academic record as well as your answers to the questions on the application. The application process may vary by college/departments. Students should contact their respective department for further information about the scholarships offered through their program.

Incoming Freshmen

Consideration for Mason internal scholarships for incoming freshmen require no application. Awards are open to deposited students who plan to enroll fall semester. Scholarship awards are based on merit and/or financial need. The exact number of scholarships will be determined by the college/departments available funding each year.

Notification of Mason internal scholarships for incoming freshmen begins mid-June and continues through August. Students, selected for the award will receive an official letter via email from the department or award committee. Students may view their awards on Patriot Web in the Financial Aid Awards section.

Continuing & Transfer Undergraduate Students

  • Admitted to the university
  • Must enroll for the upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

Graduate Students

  • Admitted to the university
  • Must enroll for the upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Application Overview:

The Mason Scholarship Application includes both merit-based and financial need-based internal scholarships. Consideration for need-based scholarships require the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Alternate Needs Assessment Form submitted to the financial aid office no later than March 1.

  • To access the online application, students must use their Patriot Pass log in credentials (NetID username and password).
  • Some departmental scholarships require resumes (School of Business, Nursing and College of Education) and/or other documents. Please ensure ample time for additional documents to be complete and submitted by the April 30 deadline.
  • We recommend typing your essays in a word processing program to take advantage of spell checking and word counting. Once you are done, just copy and paste your text into the application.

Application Timeline:

The Mason Application will be available December 20, 2017. The deadline is April 30, 2018.
